Threat Assessment is a systematic process that evaluates threats made to people or organizations, and the risk of violence that exists. Threat and risk assessment is applied to verbal or written threats, or other menacing behaviour. Risk assessment evaluates psychological, behavioural, and situational factors to determine the probability of violence, and to develop risk mitigation strategies. Threat and risk assessments are conducted in regards to internal and external threats, including workplace violence, stalking, domestic violence, extortion or other concerns.
